Resort Policies

We think kindness rules even more than rules - but these are ours. Please help us keep our rules to a minimum - we want you to have a GREAT stay and all of our other guests too!

Check-in / check-out

Check-in for all cabins is at 3pm and check-out is at 9am. Casa Kona (the big house) check-in is at 4pm and check-out is at 10am.

Quiet hours

Please respect resort quiet hours from 10:30pm - 8am. We realize you are here to have a good time with friends and family - please be respectful of your neighbors during these hours and keep noise at a respectful level. Appreciate it!

Lodge hours

The lodge is open from 9am - 10pm daily. Kitchen is available at all times for group dinners etc. Please clean the kitchen and put away all dishes after use so we can continue to offer this space to everyone - and use it - it’s awesome!

No pets

No pets of guests or visitors are allowed on resort grounds. If you travel with an ESA or PSD please let us know in advance of your arrival.

Trash disposal

New this year, we are working hard to make new systems that are safe for our animal friends. Guests are responsible for bringing trash to dumpster and disposing of their outdoor litter to the dumpster located by the fish house. Glass and aluminum can recycling can also be brought here. Trash may NOT be stored outside of cabins on any occasion.

Fish house

Please use fish house to clean all fish. Fish remains should be disposed of by the instructions provided and then put in the freezer provided in the fish house to keep our nature friends away.

Parking

Please park your vehicles in the designated parking spots provided for each cabin - limit 2 per cabin. Boat trailers should be parked on the back acreage up the road along with additional vehicles.

Docking your boat

Please park your boat on a dock close to your cabin if possible and keep that spot throughout your stay if possible. Dock spots are not assigned and there is no fee. Do not dock on the interior docks of the water toy area as signs will show to help keep this space as safe as possible for our resort kids and beach enjoyment.

Visitors

Only registered guests are allowed. If you are expecting additional guests, please contact us in advance to register them. Additional daily cost of $28/guest per day apply if your guests are more than your cabins included occupancy.

No fireworks

No fireworks allowed at ANY time.

Atvs

ATV use is prohibited on resort grounds - however there is great ATVing in the area and we understand you may need to use your ATV to exit / enter the property only. Maximum speed 5mph. Must park in one of your cabin’s designated vehicle parking spots.

Putting your boat in the lake

All boats must be inspected by resort management prior to putting your boat in the water. Be prepared to show proof that you have had your boat out of the water for at least 5 days or you have gone through proper decontamination practices. No boats entering other lakes may re-enter Kabekona without proof of decontamination during your same stay. Please note - during busy times appointments may be needed in advance to decontaminate your boat with Hubbard County. Let’s keep Kabekona clean and special!

Campfires

ABSOLUTELY no outside firewood is allowed - this is very important for the health of our forest. New in 2023 - we have a oak firewood available for guests to purchase at a reasonable cost. We have two fire rings available for guest use on the property at this time between 8am-10:30pm. Campfires must be attended at all times and fully extinguished upon completion. No fires outside of fire rings are permitted.

BBQ Grills

Each cabin has a Weber Charcoal grill. Casa Kona has a gas grill. Please bring charcoal / lighter fluid as needed. Grills can only be used for charcoal grilling - no campfires, etc. BBQ grills must be used 10 feet away from cabins and dense vegetation at all times.

Safe enjoyment of the lake

There is NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY at any time. Swim at your own risk. Please use plastic cups / aluminum cans on beach to avoid breakage issues. Please be courteous on the lake to our neighbors and friends of the resort. Keep in mind MN boating regulations and that it is against the law to operate watercraft so that its wash or wake endangers, harasses or interferes with any person or property.

Water recreation

Free use of canoes, kayaks, SUPS, and paddleboat are on a first come, first use basis. Minnesota state law requires that life jackets must be worn. For the courtesy of others guests, please return these items to where they belong when you have finished using them and limit use to two hours at a time so all can enjoy. Children under 10 are required to wear a life jacket per MN regulations.

Lifejackets

New in 2023 we have many more lifejackets available for guests of all sizes. Please use these for water toy use. If you are renting a boat - please feel free to use these for the boats on a limited basis and do not store in your boat or cabin for the week. Thanks!

Fire emergency

The resort is equipped with smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. Covering or disconnection any smoke detector in a violation of the law and puts you and all other guests at risk and is not allowed.

Pre check-out

Before check-out - please wash and put away all dishes and return any items taken from the lodge. Please drop your key by the lodge on your way out.

Smoke free areas

All of our cabins and public spaces are smoke free - including outside shared spaces such as beach, lodge porch, fish house and fire rings. Absolutely no smoking inside anywhere at anytime. Damage fees will be incurred for any violation of this rule.
